ESD Moisture Barrier Vacuum Bags protect their contents with mulit layers of film that control the Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR). Surface mount devices need to be kept dry between the time of manufacture and the point of reflow soldering. The lower the MVTR the more effective the bag is at preventing water vapor from being transmitted. Lower MVTR foil bags meet IPC/JEDECJ-STD-033 requirements. Moisture Barrier bags also provide great puncture resistance. The puncture strength or resistance captures the maximum weight the static shield can withstand before puncturing. Puncture strength is measured in pounds. ESD moisture barrier bags are ideal for long-term storage and provide a protective environment for components during storage, preserving their quality and reliability until they are ready for use. Use barrier bags in conjunction with an industrial vacuum sealer, desiccant and humidity indicatory cards for optimal performance.
